Privacy Policy
How iQuranHolder handles local app data, optional iCloud continuity, microphone use and speech recognition.
Effective date: October 19, 2026
This privacy policy describes how WebbieFourth handles information in the iQuranHolder app. iQuranHolder is designed so that core Quran reading can be used without creating a WebbieFourth account.
Information kept on your device
Reading and listening positions, bookmarks, notes and annotations, retained note revisions, reading plans, study and recitation progress, practice results, playback continuity, preferences and other personal app state are stored locally on your device. Practice results can include recognized speech text, called a transcript.
Removing an item inside the app updates that local state. Some retained information, such as note revisions and records used to synchronize deletions, serves history and continuity. Deleting the app removes its ordinary local app container, subject to the behavior of device backups and Apple platform services.
Backups and recovery
You can export personal data and import a backup through Library. Exports can contain private notes, their retained revisions, recognized practice text and other personal app state. Choose the destination carefully; anyone you share an export with may be able to read it.
If saved data cannot be opened, the recovery flow can preserve the original file while you restore a selected valid backup. Exported backups and preserved recovery files remain until removed from their storage location. Deleting the app does not delete copies you saved or shared elsewhere.
Optional iCloud continuity
iCloud continuity is off unless you enable it. When enabled, iQuranHolder uses your private iCloud/CloudKit database to synchronize personal information such as reading and recitation state, bookmarks, notes or annotations, practice results including recognized text, and supported preferences between your devices. Downloaded pages, audio and books remain device-specific.
Turning iCloud continuity off stops future app synchronization; it does not erase existing local data or records already stored in your iCloud account. Deleting the app is not a substitute for reviewing iCloud data and backups stored elsewhere.
CloudKit is an Apple service. Apple may process service and account information under Apple's own privacy terms. iQuranHolder does not receive your Apple ID password.
Microphone and Arabic speech recognition
iQuranHolder uses the microphone when you start recitation practice or Arabic voice search. Microphone and speech-recognition permissions are requested when needed for these features. Preparing the Arabic model may also request speech-recognition permission; model preparation does not record your voice.
Arabic speech recognition runs on your device. The app does not upload your microphone audio to Apple, WebbieFourth, GitHub or another server for speech recognition. You can leave your internet connection enabled while recognition continues to run locally. If the required on-device Arabic model is unavailable, the app asks you to prepare it and does not switch to online recognition.
Initial model preparation may require an internet connection to download Apple's Arabic speech assets. Downloading the model is separate from recording and recognizing your speech.
The app creates a temporary audio file for recognition. Its normal cleanup removes that analysis recording when recognition finishes or the attempt is cancelled or stopped. Optional local replay can retain a separate temporary copy as described below.
Recognized recitation text and practice results can be saved in your personal app data. If you enable iCloud continuity, supported practice data may synchronize through your private iCloud account and may be included in personal-data exports. Arabic voice search supplies editable search text; it does not create a saved recitation-practice result. Recognition results provide search text and practice hints, not certification of Tajweed or narration-specific pronunciation.
Optional local replay
In focused phrase practice, “Keep this attempt for local replay” is off by default. If you enable it, the app keeps a temporary copy of the current attempt on your device so you can listen back. This replay copy is not uploaded by the app, added to its permanent media-download library, synchronized through iCloud continuity, or included in the app's personal-data exports.
The app’s normal cleanup removes the replay copy when you delete or cancel the attempt, switch replay off, change the phrase, start another attempt, close the exercise, or move the app into the background. Stopping playback alone does not delete the copy; you can replay it again while the exercise remains open.
Content and media providers
Some Quran pages, recitations, translations, reference material, tafsir, timing data and other optional content are requested from content servers used by the app. These requests share ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and the requested resource, with the provider. Personal notes and practice transcripts are not included in content-download requests. Providers operate under their own privacy and retention practices. Source and licence information is available in Settings → Licenses and sources.
Downloads use Wi-Fi only by default. You can change this preference in Settings to allow cellular downloads. iQuranHolder does not include an advertising SDK or a third-party analytics SDK in version 27.0.
Support
If you contact WebbieFourth through the website contact form, we receive the information you provide so that we can answer your request. Do not include passwords, private keys or other unnecessary sensitive information. The publisher privacy policy also describes website enquiries. Use Contact Us to ask about access, correction, retention or deletion of your support correspondence.
Data choices and deletion
- Leave iCloud continuity disabled and use core reading without it.
- Stop voice recording in the app, or revoke microphone or speech-recognition permission in your device's system Settings. You can continue using features that do not require the microphone.
- Delete a local replay attempt, switch local replay off, or close focused phrase practice to remove its temporary replay copy. Saved practice text and results are separate personal data, and may also remain in optional iCloud continuity and exports as described elsewhere in this policy.
- Manage notes and downloaded content in the app, and export personal data through Library.
- Remove local app data by deleting the app, subject to device backups and Apple platform services.
- Review iCloud data separately, and remove exported backups or recovery files from where you stored them when no longer needed.
- For assistance concerning iQuranHolder data or privacy, use the WebbieFourth contact form.
Children and sensitive use
The app is intended for Quran reading, study, listening and memorization. Do not use speech recognition to submit passwords, financial information, health information or other unrelated sensitive speech.
Changes
This policy will be updated if the release build materially changes its data handling, online services or deletion controls. The effective date above identifies this version.
